Auricularia grows on old, dead trees or dead parts, preferably on elder or elm trees. In Chinese cuisine, it is a prized edible mushroom under the name “Chinese morel”. Both in Asia and in Europe, people have long known about the medicinal uses of this mushroom. In Europe, it was already used in the Middle Ages for the treatment of diseases and ailments.

In veterinary medicine, Auricularia is mainly used where blood thinning or increased blood flow is desired. It improves the flow properties of the blood, the adenosine contained in it has a vasodilatory effect and increases blood flow. Due to its ingredients, it improves the oxygen uptake of the cells. In doing so, it does not attack the body’s collagen, which is why there is no risk of internal bleeding. Due to its balancing and harmonizing (adaptogenic) property, it can also be used for uterine bleeding and bleeding anal abscesses.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, Auricularia has a moisturizing effect on the mucous membranes. In addition, its polysaccharides inhibit inflammation of the mucous membranes.
